One requirement of maintaining your ARRT certification and registration is that you renew your credentials each year. You can renew quickly and easily using your online account.

To renew your credentials, you must remain in compliance with the ARRT Rules and Regulations and the ARRT Standards of Ethics

To renew your credentials you must be current on your Continuing Qualifications Requirements (CQR). You'll also need to complete continuing education (CE) activities every two years. This two-year period is called a CE biennium.  Your biennium deadline and your renewal deadline are not the same. Learn more about CE, your biennium, and your CE deadlines.

If you have not completed the required CE activities by the end of your CE biennium you must complete the renewal process without reporting CE. You will then be placed on CE probation

Looking for activities to fulfill your biennial CE requirements?
The easiest way to find approved category A and A+ activities is by using this biennial CE search tool.

After you earn your initial credentials, you’ll be certified and registered through the end of your next birth month.

There’s one exception: when that date is less than two months away from your initial credentialing date, you’ll remain certified and registered through the end of your birth month in the following year.

Your renewal deadline is always 11:59 p.m. Central Time on the last day of your birth month.

Our renewal fees are significantly lower than those of other credentialing organizations—$30 for your first discipline and $15 for any additional disciplines. If you qualified for an ARRT postprimary using a credential from the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or The American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), your renewal fee is $45 for your first postprimary discipline and $15 each for any additional disciplines.

Annual renewal is fast and easy—you can complete it through your online account using a credit or debit card. If you choose to receive ARRT’s email notifications, we’ll notify you by email two months before your birth month that it's time to renew. Even if you opt out of email notifications, you’re responsible for renewing on time. After you renew, your account will show your updated status within a few days. Remember, you must renew by 11:59 p.m. Central Time on the last day of your birth month each year.

If you do not complete the renewal process, your certification and registration will be discontinued.

When your renewal window opens, you'll see a Renew Now button on your dashboard for online renewal. If you have questions about annual renewal, check our renewal FAQs or call us at 651.687.0048. Choose the option for renewal, reinstatement, or continuing education.
