ARRT ELIGIBILITY FOR INTERNATIONAL CANDIDATES
Are you interested in earning an ARRT credential—but you live or were educated outside the U.S.? To become certified and registered with ARRT, you’ll need to meet the same eligibility requirements (in ethics, education, and examination) as all other candidates.
LEARN ABOUT THE EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
For many international candidates, the education requirement can be a challenge. To meet that requirement, you must have:
- Earned an associate degree or higher: You must hold an associate degree or higher from an institution accredited by an agency that ARRT recognizes. Exceptions are degrees from institutions in Australia, Canada and Great Britain (which are recognized as meeting our academic degree requirement) and international degrees awarded by institutions outside of the U.S. (and not otherwise recognized by ARRT) that have been evaluated and approved by a credential evaluation service that is a member of the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. (AICE) and/or the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES).
- Completed an ARRT-recognized educational program: You must have completed an ARRT-approved educational program to be eligible for certification and registration.
Only when you meet these two educational requirements, along with the ethics requirement, will you be allowed to schedule an ARRT exam.
WHAT IF I DON'T MEET THE EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS?
We can’t make exceptions concerning our educational requirements (listed above). If you don’t meet the exact requirements, you can’t apply for ARRT certification and registration. In addition, we can’t accept work experience in lieu of approved educational programs.
You’ll find contact information for each ARRT-approved school on our educational look-up page.
I STILL HAVE QUESTIONS. WHOM CAN I TALK TO?
If you have additional questions, view our international FAQs or contact ARRT’s Initial Certification Department at 1.651.687.0048. Choose the option for earning an ARRT credential. We don't accept email inquiries at this time.
