ABOUT PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP SOCIETIES
Below is an overview of some of the most well-known professional societies for people who work in the radiologic sciences. These not-for-profit organizations seek to advance specific subsections of the professions.
When you become a technologist, professional societies can be a great resource for learning opportunities, networking, and career growth. Most offer publications, annual meetings, and continuing education (CE)—and some offer methods to help you keep track of and report your CE credits.
PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP SOCIETIES VERSUS CREDENTIALING ORGANIZATIONS
Professional membership societies seek to advance the interests of a profession and its members; credentialing organizations verify the qualifications of its registrants. ARRT is a credentialing organization, not a professional society. Although we support the professional growth and development of our registrants, our main purpose is to assess and recognize qualified individuals in medical imaging, interventional procedures, and radiation therapy.
