The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is excited to announce that candidates can now begin pursuing the new Imaging Assistant, Magnetic Resonance, I.A.(MR)(ARRT) credential. With the launch of the documentation tool and application, prospective candidates can begin completing the educational, clinical, and ethics requirements needed to earn the credential.

Introduced in 2025, the I.A.(MR) credential was developed to help meet the growing needs of magnetic resonance (MR) teams by preparing qualified individuals to support patient care and safety in MR environments. Imaging assistants work alongside MR technologists to help streamline workflow, enhance patient experience, and strengthen safety practices. Their role enables technologists to focus on complex imaging procedures while helping teams deliver efficient, high-quality patient care.

"This credential is the result of extensive collaboration with stakeholders across the profession who recognized the need for additional support within MR environments. The first exam window is Oct. 15 - Nov. 30, 2026.
