Updated Limited Scope of Practice in Radiography Content Specifications

Since examinations are required to be practice related, ARRT periodically conducts a job analysis to make certain that the examination content specifications remain comprehensive, accurate, and fair. ARRT, with the help of the professional community, reviews the examination documents approximately every five years.

The ARRT Board of Trustees recently approved changes to the following document that will go into effect on January 1, 2023.

OVERVIEW OF MAJOR CHANGES TO THE CONTENT SPECIFICATIONS

  • Documentation was added under Legal Issues.
  • Safe Patient Handling Devices was added under Ergonomics and Monitoring.
  • The Somatic Effects area of the Biological Effects of Radiation section was expanded.
  • Content from the contrast column in the Factors Affecting Radiographic Quality table has been moved to other parts of the Image Production section.
