Educational Activities—Not an Additional Credential—Earn CE

If your biennium began on or after Jan. 1, 2018, you should know: ARRT has changed the policy about using credentials to satisfy biennial continuing education (CE) requirements.

If you’ve earned a new credential, or if you’re working on one:

• You may submit the approved educational activities you completed while working on the credential (e.g., structured education) to help satisfy your biennial CE requirement.
• The activities must meet our Category A or A+ requirements or our approved academic course requirement—whether you pursued your credential through ARRT, the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), Radiology Administration Certification Commission (RACC), or the American Board of Imaging Informatics.

In the past, you could submit the newly earned credential itself, but that’s no longer the case if your current biennium began on or after Jan. 1, 2018. We made the change so we could emphasize educational activities over the credentials themselves.
