ARRT Trustee Larson Wins Flaherty Lifetime Achievement Award

The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is pleased to announce that our Trustee Paul A. Larson, M.D., FACR, recently received the 2018 Flaherty Lifetime Achievement Award from the Wisconsin Radiological Society (WRS).

The award recognizes career achievements and outstanding contributions to the profession of radiology by physicians practicing in Wisconsin. Criteria include demonstrated contributions to the advancement of medical practice and significant volunteer service. Larson served more than 20 years on the WRS Board and held leadership positions with the American College of Radiology, the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology, and the Radiological Society of North America.

A noted radiologist, Larson graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, and the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in Farmington, Connecticut. He eventually joined Radiology Associates of the Fox Valley, where he practiced for more than 30 years.

Larson’s involvement in national organizations began with ARRT in 1992. He served on two ARRT exam committees and was appointed to the ARRT Board of Trustees in 2014. He will serve a one-year term as President of the Board beginning in August and will remain on the Board through 2022.

“Paul Larson has been involved in technologist education since his days as a resident,” says Jerry B. Reid, ARRT Executive Director. “He has been engaged in many leadership roles within the field of radiology, and he has contributed significantly to ARRT’s mission and development over the years. We congratulate him on this well-deserved honor.”

Larson is the fifth recipient of the Flaherty award.
