Volunteer to Build Exams and Assessments

ARRT committees and projects are supported by over 200 Registered Technologists who are either serving or working independently. We are always seeking more volunteers from the profession to assist us in developing our exams and assessments.

We are looking for people who are: 

  •  certified and registered in an ARRT discipline

  •  actively working/teaching in the medical imaging or radiation therapy field. 

As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to your profession and gain direct experience in how ARRT serves medical community the community. Volunteering is a valuable way to advance your professional development and add a distinguished activity to your resume.

YOU CAN VOLUNTEER:

  • As an Item Writer - You’ll complete training modules and then attend an item writing workshop  to learn how to create questions (or items) for our exams. As a bonus, you’ll receive payment for questions you submit as an item writer after the training. Item writers terms are for one year, but may be renewed. 
  • On an Examination Committee - As a committee member, you’ll attend virtual meetings to help review newly created exam content. Terms are typically 4 years with one to two meetings per year.  Meetings are usually one or two full days.  Committee members are provided with an honorarium for attending committee meetings. 
  • On a Practice Analysis Advisory Committee - You’ll help create large-scale surveys designed to capture the tasks that Registered Technologists are performing around the country. You’ll also help analyze the results of the survey and make suggestions for our examination content specifications and clinical requirements.Terms are typically three years and include three meetings.  Meetings are usually one or two full days.  Committee members are provided with an honorarium for attending committee meetings. 
  • Special Projects Committees - These committees are short term, usually one time events to accomplish specific and sometimes unique tasks.  A standard setting committee helps establish the cut score which is the number of correct answers needed to pass an exam. Committee members are provided with an honorarium for attending committee meetings.
