Your Input Requested: New Content Specifications and Clinical Competency Requirements for RAD, NMT, and THR Coming Soon

In a few weeks, ARRT will be looking for comments on proposed changes to the Radiography (RAD), Nuclear Medicine Technology (NMT) and Radiation Therapy (THR) content specifications and clinical competency requirements.

If your program offers one of these disciplines, watch for an email from ARRT with a survey requesting your input. This is a great opportunity to review the proposed content changes to the RAD, NMT, and THR documents and provide feedback. ARRT will also add this information to our website and send to discipline-specific professional organizations.

Every five years, ARRT conducts a practice analysis survey for each discipline to ensure its standards reflect current entry-level job responsibilities. Based on the findings, ARRT updates its Discipline Documents to align assessments with current practice.

The Practice Analysis Committees for these three disciplines (composed of discipline-specific subject matter experts from across the country) began working on these documents late last year and after reviewing the survey results, will complete their work this fall.

After that, ARRT’s Board of Trustees reviews the proposed changes based on the recommendations from the committees.

Key Dates:

  • NMT and THR: The revised Content Specifications and Clinical Competency Requirements for the NMT and THR discipline documents have a scheduled implementation date of Feb. 1, 2027.
  • RAD: The revised RAD documents scheduled implementation date is March 1, 2027.

Your input is important. We look forward to your feedback.
