Of those earning their first ARRT credential, most will use the primary pathway. This option requires, among other things, that you attend an educational program relevant to the ARRT credential that you wish to pursue.

Whether you're still considering career options or already in an educational program, it’s smart to think ahead. Obtaining an ARRT credential helps you build the skills and confidence you’ll need to perform your best on the job. It also shows employers and patients that you’re committed to providing the highest level of care possible.

Primary Pathway DISCIPLINES

You'll have five disciplines from which to choose if you use the primary pathway. If you've already decided your focus, follow the corresponding link below to access resources that apply to your discipline's requirements, application, and exam.

If you're still exploring your options, you may find it helpful to learn more about the profession first. Then, come back to this section to review requirements for each of the disciplines below.

Primary Pathway REQUIREMENTS

Just as with all of our credentials, to earn ARRT certification and registration using the primary pathway, you'll need to successfully complete requirements in three areas: education, ethics, and examination. Learn more about each below.
