As a leading healthcare credentialing organization, ARRT monitors the job tasks performed by technologists in medical imaging, interventional procedures, and radiation therapy. When warranted, we explore opportunities for developing new recognitions to match the changing medical landscape.
Currently, ARRT is considering a new recognition in Proton Beam Radiation Therapy (PBRT). As part of the process, we formed a Proton Beam Radiation Therapy Practice Analysis Advisory Committee (composed of proton beam radiation therapy subject matter experts). The committee created a survey that was sent to 1,000 radiation therapists to determine what tasks they typically perform when working in proton beam radiation therapy.
Based on the survey responses, we’ve created draft documents of the Body of Knowledge Standard and Requirement and Clinical Standard and Requirements. We placed these documents onto our website in February 2018 and made changes based on the professional community comments. We also added additional requirements to the Body of Knowledge Standard and Requirements. A grid at the end of both documents summarizes two pathways and their requirements.
PLEASE REVIEW ALL PROPOSED DOCUMENTS AND PROVIDE YOUR FEEDBACK
Below you’ll find links to drafts of the proposed documents:

We invite you to review these documents, then provide feedback through an online survey—link below (live until October 29, 2018). This is our official method of tracking your responses. Our Proton Beam Radiation Therapy Practice Analysis Advisory Committee will review your comments and possibly make changes to the documents based on your feedback.
